Using Google Trends to Spot Bed Bug Problematic Areas

Recently, there has been an increase in the amount of homes, hotels and businesses in the United States that have detected pest infestation. A poll was conducted by the New York Daily News that suggested that 1 in 10 New Yorkers has bed bugs.

I wanted to know what other States had a bed bug infestation problem, so I navigated over to Google Trends and did a search for bed bugs. After narrowing that search down to the United States, the top 10 cities States searching for this term in the last 30 days were:

Was Google Wave Ahead of its Time? Google Doesn’t Seem to Think So

What about the claims that Google Wave was ahead of its time? I really can’t answer that question. Perhaps I’m one of those people that can’t see into the future but apparently neither can Google. If the mega-corporation pulls the plug on one of their products, you’d better believe that they don’t see Wave as a popular tool both now and into the future.

Google Acquires Metaweb, Because Words Suck

Searching for topics based on words is very difficult to do. In fact, we have to often times train our brains to say: “if I were writing about subject X, what words would I use?”. If you are wrong, you either have to continue trying keywords that may or may not be correct or simply give up your search. That’s why it is so interesting to me that Google recently acquired a company called MetaWeb.
